So usually they go about murdering them, might try to murder you too, or lock you up in their cellar and construct a weird ass shrine in their closet. So, y'know, if you turn one of them down harshly, they won't take it well at all.

But I think even being nice would have adverse consequences in that situation. It might encourage them.
